His ultimate seat encloses all the heavens and the earth, and the preservation and care of both do not tire Him. For He is the Highest, the Greatest.

A familiar reunion

It had only been two months since their last reunion, but the more Conláed had wished to see William again, the more it had seemed like an eternity. They had exchanged their loose summer clothes for cloaks when his father's carriage passed the city gate leading to the king's castle. William's invitation to join him at the winter solstice was finally honored.

When they had left the carriage and were admitted to the interior of the castle, Conláed was seized with a pleased, light feeling that accompanied him until they finally came face to face with the king. He was so happy to see him again that he imagined flinging his arms around his neck, but that really didn't boast of being a greeting, right? At least, the prince did so only in his mind as William approached them.

"We are honored to visit you in your kingdom, William," Conláed heard his father say, but he himself only had eyes for the king. The radiance in his face was certainly not to be missed.

when you see those videos of the ocean waves being absolutely.... horrifyingly HUGE? and you think of the apostles and Jesus on that tiny boat and Jesus was sleeping and the apostles in absolute panic start waking Him desperately, "save us or else we die!" the acknowledgment that only Jesus can save them and the desperation that must have overtaken them knowing if He didn't, they absolutely would die under the relentless and merciless waves.

and Jesus rebuked them, not for waking Him, but for their lack of faith. "why are you so fearful, O ye of little faith?" imagine hearing Him say this as the tumultuous winds and waves roared in the background, the winds and the waves that could very well sink their tiny boat into the deep oceans and into their deaths. and yet He says: why are you scared? do you have no faith?

after rebuking them, He then rebukes the winds and the waves. and the merciless waves calm, the winds cease at the command of its Maker. imagine the sudden stillness. the boat that was once rocked violently by the waves is now still and quiet. the apostles marveled: "what sort of Man is this? even the winds and the waves obey Him!"

Matthew Henry notes so beautifully:

"The Lord sits upon the floods, and is mightier than the noise of many waters. Christ, by commanding the seas, showed himself to be the same that made the world, when, at his rebuke, the waters fled, as now, at his rebuke, they fell."

Hey!! I love allllll the angsty boys so much but also want to give recognition to Julvia. She’s so amazing! In the Ice Plague she is constantly gently guiding individuals and the group as a whole. She is an expert at asking the right questions or making helpful comments at the right time. Thank you for writing someone who is so powerful and impactful because of their softness and gentleness. So cool!

Ngl, I am so soft for Julvia. When I was planning out The Ice Plague I knew I wanted her to have a more important role. I loved the idea that Gulvi embodies this slightly more masculinised, violence-seeking power, and that's how she rebels from her family, but then we realise that Julvia (and her family by association) still embody an incredible amount of power, just...not through violence.

I loved her for her clear communication, her quietness around Mosk as she tried to understand someone who hated her for a long time. I loved how she leaned on Ash for support (physically and emotionally) frequently, or her exploration of her grief alongside Eran's grief, and how they got to share that together and be vulnerable together.

And the moment Ondine takes her hand and realises she's going to fall in love with Julvia, and sees it, and Julvia sees it too, through Ondine's reaction to it, and she's already fully open to the idea of it.

I also love - randomly - that she's a top, lol. Good for Ondine.

But I like to think she gives the best hugs, and the best closeness, and she's a lovely confidante, and a treasure in the crown of the Unseelie fae. She had wisdom where so many other characters had intelligence, and she got a lot of that from her mother.

I also love her and her sister sniping at each other lol

Anyway, yes, I'm always so happy to see Julvia love! She's such a sweetheart :D What a good swan maiden she is.

Having grown up as a ward to the Hightowers in Oldtown, Myranda Redwyne is sent to King’s Landing as a companion to Otto Hightower’s daughter Alicent.

She spends her first years in the Red Keep as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Aemma.

When the queen dies in childbirth, it deeply wounds the young woman - so much so that she vows to never marry. Even before the queen's death, Myra had found herself bored with the men of the capitol - finding they are either immature, spoiled boys or disgusting, leering old men - but after witnessing Aemma Targaryen bleed out in childbed, she vows never to go through such hell for the sake of a man's legacy.

But things change when King Viserys states his intent to wed Alicent. Myra doesn't know if his daughter's impending wedding gave the widowed Otto Hightower ideas or if the Hand of the King is simply looking for someone to take care of him with Alicent bound otherwise, but suddenly her guardian seems to be looking at her differently.

Then, just a few days before Alicent is to be wed to the king, Myra receives a letter from her family that confirms her worst fear - she is to marry Otto Hightower.

Trapped in King's Landing and forced to play along as the court engages in a lavish tourney to celebrate the royal wedding, Myra finds herself in a whirlwind of despair, drinking and irresponsible decisions which ultimately gets her caught in a very compromising situation with a young lord from the North.

Hoping her 'ruin' will dissuade Otto Hightower from marrying her, Myra spins this heated yet brief encounter into a scandalous tale, not thinking about the consequences this might have for her. Or for the young man who suddenly faces accusations of defiling the Hand's future wife.

But never - not even in her wildest dreams - would Myra have imagined that this desperate and yes, stupid ploy would see her as the Lady of Last Hearth, caught in a sham marriage with a man widely rumoured to be half wildling.
